A major renovation for Parkwood Apartments, including new units and community spaces, within a 30-day timeline per building.

Parkwood Venture retained the services of Sugar Mill Construction (SMC) to undertake a comprehensive renovation of the interior and exterior of all 18 buildings within the Parkwood Apartments community. This extensive undertaking encompassed the refurbishment of a total of 221 existing units and the creation of 4 additional units, in addition to the construction of a new leasing office and rejuvenation of existing community spaces. The property comprises 52 one-bedroom and 173 two-bedroom units, with each building being completed within a 30-day timeline, encompassing both interior and exterior work.

Furthermore, the scope of the project encompassed the demolition of an existing free-standing incinerator building, as well as the repair and replacement of site concrete to ensure the creation of accessible paths of travel. Additionally, the project involved the construction of new playgrounds and the resurfacing of existing parking lots.

Parkwood Apartments is an affordable housing development; we here at Sugar Mill Construction have experience in Low Income Housing Tax Credits issued by Virginia Housing Development Authority including HUD 221(d)(4) financing.
